Classic Club Sandwich (Printable version)

A triple-decker sandwich stacked with turkey, bacon, crisp veggies, and creamy mayo on toasted bread.

# What you'll need:

→ Meats

01 - 4 slices cooked turkey breast or chicken breast
02 - 4 slices cooked ham (optional)
03 - 4 slices cooked bacon

→ Bread & Spreads

04 - 6 slices white or whole wheat sandwich bread, toasted
05 - 4 tablespoons mayonnaise

→ Vegetables

06 - 4 leaves iceberg lettuce
07 - 2 medium tomatoes, sliced

→ Extras

08 - Salt and pepper, to taste
09 - 4 sandwich toothpicks

# Directions:

01 - Toast all 6 slices of sandwich bread until golden brown and slightly crispy on the edges.
02 - Spread mayonnaise evenly over one side of each toasted bread slice using a butter knife.
03 - Place 2 slices of toast mayo-side up on a clean work surface. Layer each with half of the turkey or chicken breast, a slice of ham if using, 2 strips of bacon, sliced tomato, and lettuce. Season lightly with salt and pepper.
04 - Top each assembled base with a second toasted bread slice, mayo-side up. Repeat the layering with the remaining turkey or chicken, ham, bacon, tomato slices, and lettuce. Season again with salt and pepper to taste.
05 - Cap each triple-decker sandwich with the third toasted bread slice, placing it mayo-side down. Insert 2 toothpicks through each sandwich to hold the layers together, then cut diagonally into 4 wedges using a sharp knife.
06 - Arrange the sandwich quarters on a plate and serve immediately alongside potato chips, a side salad, or your preferred accompaniment.

# Expert Tips:

01 -
  • The triple decker structure delivers three distinct flavor zones in every single bite, making it far more exciting than a regular sandwich.
  • It comes together in under thirty minutes with ingredients you probably already have sitting in your fridge.
  • The diagonal cut into quarters is not just for looks because it exposes all those gorgeous layers and makes it easy to pick up and eat without everything sliding apart.
02 -
  • Soggy bread is the enemy here, so always pat your tomato slices dry with a paper towel before layering them on.
  • If you try to cut without toothpicks, the entire tower will shift and slide apart, leaving you with a messy pile instead of elegant wedges.
03 -
  • Let your bread cool for about thirty seconds after toasting before you spread the mayo, otherwise it melts right off and soaks into the bread too quickly.
  • Always assemble on a cutting board rather than a plate so you can press down firmly while cutting without ruining your presentation.
